If we have a clear view of Jesus, then we should have a clear view of ourselves. Our preoccupation should be with the holiness of God, the holiness of God is everything! What does holiness mean, this is crucial to understand. We need to understand that He is truly set apart from all His creation, His transcendence is His alone in this sense. Nothing nor anyone can equal His Holiness. The Holy Scriptures says the Israelites were to be a holy people. Deuteronomy 7:6 His people are “set apart”, we likewise are set apart as a royal priesthood 1 Peter 2:9.
So, we can see from The Holy Scriptures that holiness is a setting apart for a specific purpose.
Now comes the discussion of grace. What is grace? Grace is unmerited favour Ephesians 2:8-10, a favour undeserving! What we deserve is absolute justice from Our Lord! Romans 3:10-12. Our Lord is under no obligation to show such love but He demonstrates this grace to us in Jesus Romans 5:8. We do not work nor contribute anything to our being saved, if we say we do then we are no longer speaking of grace but of works! There is only One who worked for the salvation of many and His name is Jesus.
